Good To Know

Walnuts are a powerhouse of DHA, a crucial omega-3 fatty acid that has been shown to boost cognitive function and prevent age-related cognitive decline.

Hemp seeds pack a punch of protein, antioxidants and healthy omega-3s that nourish the brain. They also contain magnesium, which helps relax muscles and promote restful sleep, leaving you feeling calm and rejuvenated.

You might be surprised to learn that tahini paste can help prevent dementia. How amazing is that?

But that’s not all – did you know that coconut flakes can also help boost memory and attention? Add them to these energy bites, granola, smoothies or oatmeal. Such a delicious way to keep your mind sharp and focused!

Substitutions

Use pecans instead of walnuts.

Use ground chia seeds or ground flax seeds instead of hemp seeds.

Use any nut butter you like. I prefer to use organic crunchy peanut butter that has only one ingredient: roasted organic peanuts. Sometimes, I use almond butter that also has only one ingredient: dry-roasted almonds.

Extra health points

I like to serve these energy bites with fruits such as berries and grapes, which bring more minerals, vitamins and fiber. But of course, you can add your favourite fruits.

Storing, freezing and reheating tips

Store

In an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Freeze

The energy bites freeze well for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge.
